![]() Introduction We would like to stress that the Cologne List is not a recommendation to athletes to make use of any nutritional supplements. Our sole interest is educational advertising! The effectiveness of nutritional supplements needs to be evaluated separately for each product and may depend on the individual athlete. In general, we suggest that products made in the USA and China and/or offered via the Internet without being listed on the Cologne List should be handled with care. The fact that a product is published on the Cologne List is not a warranty that the product does not contain any prohormones, anabolic substances, or stimulants. The Cologne List only ascertains that listed products are associated with a minimized risk of doping. The ultimate responsibility remains with each athlete. To support the assessment of a certain nutritional supplement the Cologne List provides the following pieces information: a) Laboratory analysis of individual product batches at the “Zentrum für präventive Dopingforschung der DSHS Köln” The analysis of individual product batches delivers selective results. The products can be tested on anabolic androgenic steroids (prohormones), anabolic substances and stimulants. The analysis result only apply to the batch that has been analyzed. Therefore, the batch number and the “best before” date are also published on the Cologne List. b) Manufacturer voluntary self-disclosure This self-disclosure gives an indication about the risk of a contamination of a product during the process of its production, processing and distribution. The published information is confirmed by a representative of the manufacturer, who signs a corresponding document. The legal validity of the signed document is not verified by the Olympic Centre Rhineland. c) Comment of the manufacturer All comments of the manufacturer are also confirmed by the above mentioned signed document. |
